Project Summary

Rebuilt the site for the New School of Music, Austin, the city's first community music school (established 1982). The bespoke build leads with the school's scholarship mission and gives the Texas Jazz & Blues Camp, weekly Jazz Clubs, and lesson programs their own pages, with every section editable in the prod CMS.

Objectives

• Put the scholarship mission front and center, where it earns the most trust
• Give the Texas Jazz & Blues Camp and weekly Jazz Clubs their own clear pages
• Present all 18 faculty and staff with full roles and instruments
• Make lessons, areas of study, and registration easy to find
• Hand the all-volunteer nonprofit a site their team can edit through the CMS

What We Implemented

• Bespoke Vite + React build on the @gjl/site-kit SSR runtime, prerendered per route (SSG) for crawlable HTML
• Color-forward Austin jazz-handbill identity: stage-cream banded with deep teal and hot-orange accents
• Anton condensed poster display over DM Sans; signature gig-poster stacked-type motif + staggered instrument tiles
• Seven pages with verbatim content: Home, About, Lessons, Jazz Clubs, Texas Jazz & Blues Camp, Donate, Contact
• MusicSchool JSON-LD, sitemap, robots, and distinct per-route canonicals
• CMS-editable surface (hero, intro, mission) via the seed + publish pipeline; mailto-fallback contact form

Results

• Live, CMS-editable site graded 94/100 (A) on the rendered quality audit
• Scholarship work (50% of enrollment, 7,000+ lessons, $245K+ impact) leads the homepage
• Programs and faculty server-rendered and indexable, replacing an AJAX-thin original
• A distinctive, color-forward identity that reads as a custom build, not a template
